LGH gets new principal
LAHORE:The Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department Punjab has assigned Dr Farooq Afzal, Senior Professor of Surgery, Postgraduate Medical Institute, the additional charge of the post of Principal PGMI/Ameeruddin Medical College/Lahore General Hospital, with immediate effect, for three months or till the arrival of a regular incumbent. The notification has been issued in this regard on Wednesday.
The appointment has been made after the expiry of the tenure of outgoing Principal Prof Dr Al-Fareed Zafar. However, he will continue to perform the duties of Professor of Surgery, Chairman Department of Surgery, PGMI, AMC, LGH.
Dr Farooq Afzal is the President of Surgical Oncology Society of Pakistan. He is professional surgeon and also has experience in administrative matters. He received training from MBBS/MD, FCPS, FRCS, FACS, MCPS (HPE), MBA (USA), Fellowship and Advanced Laparoscopy and Bariatric Surgery (USA).
In addition, Prof Farooq Afzal had also served as the Principal Services Institute of Medical Sciences. He also holds the honor of Vice President of Pakistan Obesity and Metabolism Society.
