LAHORE:Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development claimed that all filtration plants at the union council level in City would be made operational by next month.
He said this while chairing a meeting at the Punjab Saaf Pani Authority here on Tuesday. CEO Saaf Pani Authority Syed Zahid Aziz gave a detailed briefing on the ongoing projects. On this occasion, Chairman Chaudhry Zahid Akram and DG Saaf Pani Authority Zohaib Butt were also present. The meeting was informed about the phased plan to operationalise all non-functional filtration plants in the province as per the directives of the chief minister.
CEO Syed Zahid Aziz stated that the Saaf Pani Authority is working on restoring over 5,000 filtration plants across Punjab. Efforts are under way to reconnect disconnected power supplies, improve civil structures, and replace filtration equipment. Most non-functional filtration plants will use imported machinery.
Provincial Minister Bilal Yasin said that with the arrival of new machinery in Pakistan next month, more than 50% of the faulty filtration plants would be fully operational. He added that the CM is closely monitoring the progress to ensure the provision of clean and quality drinking water to the general public at the earliest.
