Bogged down
Karachi’s road infrastructure is in a dismal state, with University Road being one of the most affected. This vital route, used daily by thousands of students and university staff, has become dangerously worn out and riddled with potholes. The worsening condition of the roads has led to an alarming rise in traffic accidents, putting the lives of commuters – especially young students – at serious risk. The damaged roads are also generating excessive dust and contributing significantly to air pollution, resulting in severe respiratory and health issues among the people.
The delays in reconstruction projects have only amplified public frustration. Despite Karachi residents contributing substantially through taxes, they continue to face hazardous road conditions and daily inconvenience. This situation reflects a lack of urgency on the part of civic authorities. Immediate and sustained action is essential to address these dangerous road conditions. Repairing and maintaining key arteries like University Road must be made a top priority for the safety and well-being of Karachi’s residents.
