Karachi Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Monem Zafar inaugurated a youth centre in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town. Addressing the inauguration ceremony, he hailed the JI’s Gulshan Town Municipal Corporation (TMC) representatives for their successful efforts.
He said the youth constituted more than 60 per cent of the country's population and the JI was committed to channelise their potential for the betterment and development of society. He said the youth centre was one of its kind and encompassed an open air gym, library, indoor games court and other facilities. He dubbed the youth centre as a gift to the residents of the town by the JI.
He said the TMC had already restored 100 per cent public schools in the Gulshan Town and the next target would be to upgrade all the schools. The JI leader highlighted that the JI’s elected local government representatives had restored more than 150 parks.
He recalled that record development works were carried out in Karachi during the mayoral tenures of the JI’s Abdul Sattar Afghani and Niamatullah Khan. He added that after 2005, the city was handed over to corrupt elements who ruined it.
He went on to say that the JI was committed to serve the city and its residents even beyond its mandate. He said the saga of development and progress would continue by the JI. Zafar said Karachi became a hub of problems during the past several years and the JI would continue its efforts for the rights of the city. Struggle and resistance against injustice was the path the JI had chosen for itself, he remarked.
