Special financial package approved for police martyrs
LAHORE:The Punjab government has approved a special financial package for the welfare of police martyrs and their families, recognising their invaluable sacrifices for peace and public safety. A meeting chaired by Provincial Law Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth finalised the decision to provide special grants and residential facilities to the heirs of martyred police personnel.
The meeting was attended by Special Secretary for Home Affairs Fazal-ur-Rehman, AIG Police Welfare Ghazi Salahuddin, and officials from the Finance Department and other institutions concerned. A detailed review of the existing martyr support packages, package I, II, and III , was conducted, leading to the approval of financial aid and houses for the families of several martyred officers.
Under this initiative, the family of martyred SI M Shehbaz from Jhang will receive Rs4 million, while the heirs of a martyred ASI from Lahore will be given Rs5 million and a 7-marla house; martyred Constable Tariq Aziz from Gujrat’s family will get Rs4 million and a 5-marla house, and martyred Traffic Warden Abdul Qadeer from Lahore’s heirs will receive Rs10 million and a 5-marla house.
Additionally, financial grants of Rs3 million to Rs4 million and residential plots have been approved for the families of martyred constables and ASIs from Multan, Rajanpur, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Lahore, Sahiwal, and Sheikhupura. A summary for the grant case of martyred Police Tracker M Ismail is also being prepared. These brave officers lost their lives while combating terrorism, tackling criminal elements, and in the line of traffic duty. Their sacrifices are a testament to their unwavering dedication to public safety and the restoration of peace, and they will never be forgotten.
The minister reaffirmed that the Punjab government holds these sacrifices in the highest regard and will continue to support the families of martyrs in every possible way. The meeting concluded with a special prayer for all martyrs, including those who laid down their lives during Indo-Pak tensions.
Open court conducted
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran conducted an open court at Jamia Masjid Madina, Link Road, Shalimar to address citizens’ issues at their doorstep. SP Cantt, SDPO, SHOs, and other officers were present on the occasion. DIG Operations listened to citizens’ concerns and issued on-the-spot orders to relevant officers. He stated that there is zero tolerance for abuse of power and false cases. Any form of injustice or mistreatment of citizens will not be tolerated. While those who file false FIRs against citizens are being sent to jail, accountability measures are also ongoing against officers who fail to resolve issues at the police station level.
