2 under-custody suspects killed in ‘encounter’

LAHORE:Two robbery suspects in custody were killed during an alleged police encounter in the Hanjarwal area on Friday.

Officers from the Crime Control Department (CCD) were transporting the suspected robbers, Qasim and Tasleem, to a crime scene when, in the Hanjarwal locality, unidentified assailants opened fire on the police party in an apparent attempt to free the suspects. According to reports, the gunfire from the attackers resulted in the deaths of the detained accused.

Woman attempts suicide

A 35-year-old woman attempted suicide over a domestic issue in Chuhng area on Friday. The woman allegedly consumed a poisonous substance after exchanging harsh words with her husband. She was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Three bodies found

Bodies of three individuals were found from different locations on Friday. The body of a 50-year-old man, identified as a drug addict, was found near the old bridge on Ravi Road, Badami Bagh.

In China Scheme, Gujjarpura, Edhi Foundation officials recovered the body of another 50-year-old man, who also appeared to be a drug addict. Meanwhile, the body of a 70-year-old man was found on a footpath near Data Darbar.
