PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Friday criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for what he termed as the catastrophic governance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the last 12 years.

A press release said that he was speaking to party delegations at Watan Kor in Peshawar. He said the recent Rs40 billion corruption scandal in Kohistan was a direct outcome of PTI’s flawed policies and rampant corruption during its rule.

Sikandar Sherpao described the scandal as a slap in the face of those who claimed to champion transparency and anti-corruption. He said the incident had exposed the true face of PTI before the nation and proved that slogans of accountability were merely political gimmicks.

“The Kohistan scam not only highlights severe flaws in the PTI government’s financial management but also reflects the deep-rooted and growing corruption within the province,” he stated, adding that this was not an isolated incident, but part of a larger pattern of financial misdeeds that have repeatedly surfaced.

He questioned the silence of responsible authorities over what he described as the largest financial scandal in the province’s history and demanded a thorough investigation. “Those involved must be brought to justice, and the PTI must answer for its silence on a scandal of this magnitude,” he added.

Sikandar Sherpao accused the PTI leadership of prioritizing personal interests over public welfare, citing a consistent stream of corruption cases from 2013 to 2025 as evidence of its failed governance.

“The performance of the PTI government has been limited to reshuffling ministers and launching protests for the release of its founder, while the province suffers from economic decline and corruption,” he said.

He also pointed to a sharp rise in the province’s debt, deteriorating law and order, inflation, unemployment, and widespread poverty as consequences of poor governance. “Because of PTI’s flawed policies, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its people are now facing a crisis, marked by hopelessness and deprivation,” he added.
