KARACHI: The Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) on Tuesday held its first computerised balloting of point-of-sale (POS) invoices, announcing prizes for 105 lucky customers who obtained POS-integrated invoices for services at restaurants, gyms and beauty parlours and verified them with the SRB’s app or website.

The draw was held at the SRB’s head office, where prizes including 67 cash awards, motorcycles, mobile phones, refrigerators, smartwatches and LED TVs were announced.

Senior Member SRB Abdul Hameed Memon said that the SRB had introduced the Sindh Sales Tax Special Procedure (Online Integration of Businesses) Rules in 2022 that require restaurants, gyms and beauty parlours to integrate their POS systems with the SRB’s computerised system for reporting all their transactions in real-time for tax compliance and transparency.

He said that the SRB offered a POS integration service to businesses to streamline this process for retail services, adding that in December 2024, it announced the prize scheme to encourage customers to demand POS invoice with QR code for services at a restaurant, beauty parlour or gym and verify it with the SRB through its eSRB Mobile App or website to be eligible for entry in the lucky draw. He said that a total 555 restaurants with their 1,246 branches, 16 gyms, and parlours with their 23 branches were integrated with the SRB. He said that any invoice verified from January 1 onwards was included in the draw. He added that the prizes were funded through the amount generated from the SRB’s Re1 POS fee.

He pointed out that out of a total of 5,430 invoices since January 1, 3,260 customers registered themselves with the SRB by providing their name, CNIC number and mobile number to become part of the prize scheme. He added that 1,261 unique CNICs were included in the draw, as some individuals verified invoices two or three times. Finance Secretary Fayaz Ahmed Jatoi, SRB Chairman Wasif Ali Memon and others were also present on the occasion.
