PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has issued notices to National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) officials and sought a reply within 14 days on a writ petition filed against the blocking of an entire family’s CNICs and the refusal to issue Form-B for their children.
A bench comprising Justice Ejaz Anwar and Justice Waqar Ahmad heard the petition filed by Taj Bibi and others. The petitioner’s counsel, Advocate Malik Shehbaz Khan, informed the court that the petitioner and her four children were Pakistani citizens.
When her son, Muhammad Ullah, applied for a CNIC, he was told it could not be issued because his father, Sher Rehman’s, CNIC was blocked.Later, Sher Rehman’s CNIC was reactivated, and Muhammad Ullah was issued a CNIC in 2018. However, when the petitioner recently applied for the renewal of her CNIC, she was informed that the CNICs of her husband, Sher Rehman, and all family members had once again been blocked.
The counsel stated the children were also being denied issuance of Form B due to the blocked CNICs, which was a violation of their fundamental rights. He requested the PHC to issue directives to unblock the CNICs of all family members and ensure the issuance of Form B to their children
