Rallies laud armed forces for victory against Indian aggression

LAHORE:Lahorites took to the streets to praise the Pakistan armed forces for a timelyresponse to Indian aggression. A massive rally, held from Istanbul Chowk to Faisal Chowk, drew participants from all walks of life, including political leaders, social activists, and members of the business community - united in their support for the country’s defenders.

Business leaders and other participants pledged continued support for the armed forces. Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) on Sunday observed 'Youm-e-Tashakur' for crushing defeat of the enemy and lauded the Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir for a landslide victory in a war with India.

The event, held here Sunday brought together industry leaders to express gratitude toward the army, Navy and PAF. PFC CEO Mian Kashif Ashfaq briefly speaking on the occasion hailed the armed forces' role in safeguarding national sovereignty, linking security to economic stability. 'Our military's valour ensures a peaceful environment for trade and growth,' he stated, emphasising unity between civic and defence sectors.

He praised Gen Munir's leadership, crediting the armed forces for protecting national interests. The PFC underscored its commitment to bolstering national morale, aligning industrial progress with patriotism. The ceremony concluded with pledges to support defence initiatives.Meanwhile, Former President of SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry Iftikhar Ali Malik on Sunday hailed the Pakistan-India ceasefire emphasising its potential to foster stability in a region home to one-fifth of the global population.

In statement here, he underscored the ceasefire as a critical opportunity to rebuild trust between the nuclear-armed neighbours. 'Sustainable peace is the bedrock of prosperity,' he stated, urging both countries to prioritise dialogue and collaboration. He linked the détente to economic revival and reduced hostilities could unlock trade, investment, and regional connectivity projects. South Asia’s GDP potential hampered by decades of instability. A peaceful environment attracts global investors, he added, stressing the need to capitalise on the region’s 1.9 billion population. Iftikhar Malik expressed optimism that the ceasefire could help to promote multilateral cooperation, transforming South Asia into a hub of growth and innovation.

He said peace is not just a political imperative but an economic necessity. A durable peace would send a strong message globally that dialogue, not conflict and war is the path forward,he added.
