After almost two weeks of accusations, escalating tensions and a treaty suspension, India launched missile and drone attacks against Pakistan on Wednesday (May 7). Over 30 civilians have been killed thus far. The Pakistan security forces have been countering the Indian onslaught, downing at least five Indian jets, dozens of Indian drones and hammering Indian positions along the LoC. They have done a great job of defending the country.
However, war is still the wrong path for both countries. They must resolve this issue through dialogue and negotiations. International institutions and major powers must also help deescalate tensions.
