PCB forms four-member committee to appoint head coach
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has established a four-member committee to oversee the appointment of the national cricket team’s head coach.
According to sources, the committee includes Sameer Ahmed Syed, Bilal Afzal, Aaqib Javed, and Azhar Ali. Their primary task is to finalize the selection process and present recommendations to PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
The PCB has shortlisted six candidates, including four foreign and two local coaches. Among the foreign contenders, Mike Hesson is reportedly a strong candidate for the role.
On the local front, Azhar Mahmood, who currently serves as the assistant coach of the Pakistan team, is also under consideration. The appointment of the new head coach is expected to be finalized in the coming days, as the PCB looks to strengthen the coaching setup ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
