CHARSADDA: In a major development, five women public prosecutors have been appointed for the first time in Charsadda district to improve access to justice for women in the region.

The inauguration of a dedicated office for women prosecutors took place at the office of the district public prosecutor (DPP), where additional chief secretary of the Home Department, Muhammad Abid Majeed, officially launched the new facility.

DPP Javed Ali Mohmand said that a total of five women prosecutors have been appointed in Charsadda.

Special arrangements have been made for them, including separate offices and attached bathrooms, to ensure a comfortable and professional working environment.

These women prosecutors will oversee cases related to women, providing legal guidance and ensuring sensitivity and confidentiality in handling such matters. The initiative is being hailed as a practical move toward empowering women within the justice system and enhancing their ability to seek redress.

“This step is not only about increasing the representation of women in the legal system,” said DPP Javed Ali Mohmand, “but also about making justice more accessible and responsive to the unique challenges women face.”
