Government urged to strengthen Passco
LAHORE:Employees of Pakistan Agricultural Storage & Services Corporation Ltd (Passco) have appealed to Prime Minister, Army Chief, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Federal Minister for Finance to allow the purchase of wheat for national food security across the country.
Keeping in view its excellent performance, they urged that this national institution must be strengthened instead of disbanding a profitable department, said Khawaja Ayub Naseem, the Chairman of the Passco Bachao Tehreek and others while addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club on Monday.
They were of the firm view that the government should not undermine the role of Passco. They said Passco is the only national agricultural commodity organisation which has been providing unparalleled services by purchasing agricultural commodities of farmers for the last 51 years as per the instructions of the government of Pakistan. This institution is fulfilling the responsibility of food security in a good manner.
The Passco administration built 335 spacious warehouses and 28 silos. All these assets are built thanks to the strategy of the Passco administration and the day and night hard work of the employees.
