Exhibition explores world’s historical, scientific realities
LAHORE:The Library Society of Government College University (GCU), in collaboration with the Department of Geography, Islamia Graduate College Civil Lines, organised an educational exhibition exploring the world's historical and scientific realities.
Held at GCU’s Salam Hall, the event featured a wide range of displays highlighting global and regional geographical phenomena. Exhibits included diagrams of the Earth's internal structure, tectonic plates, and systems of latitude and longitude—serving as practical and visual resources for students of geography, geology, and environmental sciences.
GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Omer Chaudhry inaugurated the exhibition. He was accompanied by Principal of Islamia Graduate College Civil Lines Dr Akhtar Hussain Sandhu, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Prof Dr Babar Aziz, and Chief Librarian Muhammad Naeem.
Commending the initiative, VC Prof Dr Omer Chaudhry stated, 'Understanding the Earth's dynamics is crucial to addressing global challenges such as climate change and natural disasters.' The one-day exhibition attracted a large number of students from various universities and colleges.
Pakistan Spelling Bee 3rd edition from July
The third edition of the Pakistan Spelling Bee (PSB) will be held from July 2025 to February 2026, for both English and Urdu languages, and will see regional championships held in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Quetta, Gilgit, Multan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot and other cities.
According to a press release, cash prizes worth Rs1.4 million will be given out to the PSB National Championship winners. Rewards will also be given to school activity coordinators for meeting enrolment targets for the 2025-2026 competition. Musharraf Ali Farooqi, Executive Director of Pakistan Spelling Bee and CEO and founder of Storykit, mentioned that last year, over 12,000 students participated in the competition from public and private schools. Registrations are now open for the Pakistan Spelling Bee (PSB) nationwide, and schools and individual candidates can register online at pakistan spelling bee.com.
