700 officers anxious over delay in promotions
Delay in approval process of CSB’s recommendations has made more than 700 bureaucrats awaiting promotion
ISLAMABAD: Though seven weeks have passed since the Central Selection Board (CSB) meeting, the Board’s recommendations have not been approved yet.
The delay in approval process of CSB’s recommendations has made more than 700 bureaucrats of Grade-19 and 20, awaiting promotion, perturbed. These officers had been recommended for promotions to the next grade.
The meeting of CSB was held from March 11 to 14 last month under the chairmanship of Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Akhtar Nawaz Satti. The Board had prepared recommendations for promotions of hundreds of officers to Grade-20 and 21.
The final approval of the recommendations lies with the prime minister. Establishment Division officials said minutes of the Board’s meeting have been sent to the Prime Minister’s Office for approval.
After the prime minister’s approval, notifications regarding promotions of these officers would be issued.
After the promotions, large-scale appointments and transfers would be made in the bureaucracy. As the posting plans have been prepared, these officers would be appointed in new grades.
The meeting of CSB was held after a year-and-a-half. The Board has now been formed, but the process of approving promotion summary is facing delays.
