Zalmi confirm replacement for George Linde
LAHORE: Peshawar Zalmi has confirmed a squad adjustment for the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 10), officially announcing England fast bowler Luke Wood as a replacement for South Africa’s George Linde.
Linde has returned home due to personal family matters, prompting Zalmi to activate Wood, who was initially named as a backup for Nahid Rana but will now slot into Linde’s position.
Earlier in PSL 10, George Linde joined Peshawar Zalmi as a replacement for Corbin Bosch, who withdrew from the tournament to join Mumbai Indians for the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Now, Luke Wood steps in, further adjusting Zalmi’s squad composition.
Peshawar Zalmi secured a six-wicket win over Islamabad United at Gaddafi Stadium on Friday, marking their third triumph of the season.
Chasing 144, Zalmi stumbled early, losing three wickets quickly. However, debutant Maaz Sadaqat (55 off 33) and captain Babar Azam (53 off 49)* stabilized the innings with a 102-run partnership, steering their team to victory in the 17th over.
Earlier, Islamabad United opted to bat first but managed a modest 143-9 despite their openers putting up 58 runs. A batting collapse ensued, with Ben Dwarshuis (33) providing late resistance*, but Zalmi’s bowlers kept them in check.
Peshawar Zalmi now sits fifth on the points table, with three wins and four losses from seven matches. Islamabad United suffered their second defeat.
Babar Azam (c), Saim Ayub, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Ali, Hussain Talat, Nahid Rana, Luke Wood, Abdul Samad, Arif Yaqoob, Mehran Mumtaz, Sufiyan Muqeem, Najibullah Zadran, Ali Raza, Maaz Sadaqat, Ahmed Daniyal, and Alzarri Joseph.
