LAHORE: In an administrative development aimed at modernising the law-enforcement infrastructure and improving the efficiency of crime prevention and investigation, the Punjab government has formally announced the establishment of new police stations under the Crime Control Department (CCD) across the province.

This significant reform was enacted through Notification No. SO (P-Inq) 3-19/2025 issued by the Home Department on April 30, 2025. This expansive decision includes the creation of CCD police stations in all major divisions and districts of Punjab, with defined territorial jurisdictions encompassing numerous police circles within each district. The restructuring is designed to decentralize criminal investigations, promote localized policing and ensure a swifter and more coordinated response to criminal activity throughout the province. According to the official notification, three CCD police stations have been designated in Lahore to cover the city’s jurisdiction. These include Lahore-I, which will oversee the City Police Division and Iqbal Town Police Division; Lahore-II, responsible for Civil Lines and Cantt Divisions; and Lahore-III, covering Saddar and Model Town Divisions. The city’s fragmentation into three dedicated CCD stations highlights the volume and complexity of policing required in the provincial capital.

Beyond Lahore, CCD police stations have been strategically established in key districts including Sheikhupura, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Narowal, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, and Chakwal.

Each of these stations will supervise multiple policing circles within their respective jurisdictions. The notification further expands this framework to include central and southern Punjab districts such as Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Sahiwal, Okara, Pakpattan, Multan, Vehari, Khanewal, Lodhran, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, and Rajanpur.

In each of these areas, the CCD police stations have been aligned with multiple police circles to streamline case registration, investigation, and inter-jurisdictional coordination.
