Drug addict stabs wife, two children
LAHORE:A man allegedly stabbed his wife and two children in a fit of rage after being stopped from consuming drugs in the Hanjarwal police area on Wednesday.
The suspect, identified as Iftikhar, reportedly became enraged when confronted over his drug addiction and responded by attacking his family with a knife. The victims—his wife Maryam Bibi, daughter Maham, and son Abu Bakr—sustained severe injuries in the assault.
According to police sources, Iftikhar fled the scene after committing the crime. Neighbours, upon hearing the screams, rushed into the house and informed the police. Rescue teams shifted all three injured to Jinnah Hospital. Doctors have declared the condition of Maryam Bibi and Abu Bakr critical, while Maham is also receiving treatment for serious injuries. A case was registered against Iftikhar.
Man dies of cardiac arrest
A 50-year-old man died of cardiac arrest in the Nawab Town area near Ali Town on Wednesday. The deceased, identified as Yousaf, was employed as a sweeper at a private bank.
According to initial reports, he collapsed near his residence early in the morning. Bystanders quickly informed local authorities, and emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly afterward. Police confirmed that the cause of death was cardiac arrest as there were no signs of violence or foul play. It appeared to be a natural death. Yousaf’s body was later transported to his ancestral home by an Edhi Foundation ambulance.
Rape suspect arrested
Baghbanpura police arrested a man for raping an 11-year old boy. The victim was on his way to mosque for offering prayer when the accused Amanullah lured the child with sweets. He took him to his place where he raped him. A case was registered against the accused on the complaint of the victim's father M Jamshed.
2,101 beggars arrested
Lahore police have registered 2,076 cases and arrested 2,101 beggars this year. This was disclosed by the spokesman for Lahore Police in a statement issued Wednesday. The spokesman added that those arrested include 1,989 men, 100 women and 12 facilitators. Arrests were made across various divisions, with 500 in City Division, 452 in Cantt, 263 in Civil Lines, 240 in Saddar, 225 in Iqbal Town and 421 in Model Town, he reported.
