LAHORE:Lahore High Court has ordered the rickshaw dealers not to hand over the rickshaw to customers without a licence.

The Lahore High Court heard a petition regarding the smog and climate pollution, in which a report of meeting with rickshaw manufacturers was submitted. The court also issued a written decision on the case. The judicial decision states that in the light of the court instructions, the transport department directed manufacturers not to sell the rickshaw without a fitness certificate.

The Lahore High Court has ruled that rules should be set for sale between manufacturers and dealers, while licences of rickshaw makers should not be extended without fulfilling the terms. Later, the court ordered the Transport Department to submit a detailed report tomorrow (Friday).

Modern licence-making facility introduced

Lahore Traffic Police has introduced a modern licence-making facility at City intersections to ease the process for citizens. The first kiosk, equipped with advanced technology, has been installed at Afshan Chowk on Mall Road. Here, motorcycle riders without licences can obtain one on the spot.

The kiosk includes a loudspeaker system for traffic control, and traffic wardens will be on duty 24/7. As per CTO, similar kiosks will soon be established in areas like Mall Road, Gulberg, and Iqbal Town.
