Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday praised Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro for their hard work to expeditiously resolve the canals controversy.

Shah and Shoro met the PPP chief at the Bilawal House soon after the ministers arrived in Karachi from Islamabad after attending a meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI), which shelved the project of building new canals on the Indus River system to irrigate the proposed farmlands in Cholistan.

On their arrival at the old terminal of the Karachi airport, the Sindh CM was warmly received by his cabinet colleagues, and other PPP leaders and workers.

The party chief said during the meeting that the hard work of Shah and Shoro had borne fruit as both the ministers had strongly pleaded Sindh’s case against the controversial canals at the relevant constitutional and legal forums.

He said that the proceedings of the recent CCI meeting had upheld Sindh’s stance on the canals controversy. Shah briefed Bilawal on the decisions taken by the CCI meeting in Islamabad. The CM and the irrigation minister expressed gratitude to the PPP chief for his constant guidance on the issue of the controversial canals on the Indus River system in southern Punjab.
