QUETTA: A truck exploded during welding work at a terminal in Nushki district, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to more than 30 others, including a DSP and an ASI.
According to sources, a sudden fire broke out during welding, leading to a powerful explosion. One person was burnt to death, and dozens, including police officials, sustained injuries.
Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind said the fire was so intense that even a fire brigade vehicle present at the site was affected. Over 30 injured individuals were shifted to Civil Hospital and BMC Quetta after receiving initial medical aid.
Police sources confirmed that the deceased was the truck driver, who died on the spot from severe burns. Several injured persons are reported to be in critical condition. Officials stated that the explosion, caused by welding work, also engulfed nearby bystanders.
Spokesperson Shahid Rind added that investigations have been initiated, and an emergency has been declared in hospitals to ensure immediate medical assistance for the injured. He termed the incident “tragic” and assured that a complete investigation will be conducted.
