ISLAMABAD: A committee constituted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for preventing undue interference of state authorities will meet here on Monday (April 28).
The committee will assist the Ministry of Industries and Production in preventing undue interference by state authorities. Besides the chairman, the panel comprises Minister of State for Law and Justice, Barrister Aqeel Malik, Federal Secretary Industries and Production, Member (Policy) FBR, Heads of SECP, FIA and NAB, Secretary Industries of the provinces, representative of FPCCI, Ali Sibtain Fazili, advocate and other co-opted members.
The objective of the committee is to protect legitimate business operations from arbitrary and undue interference from regulatory and other authorities. As per the terms of refeence, the committee will identify the instances of overreach or albitrary action by state authorities, propose a legal and administrative framework for checks and balances to curb undue and arbitrary actions, recommend new guidelines for regulatory enforcement including a mechanism for redressal of complaints, suggest amendments to relevant laws and procedure to improve accountability and transparency. The committee shall furnish its report in two weeks.
