Cops accused of bursting vehicles’ tyres
PESHAWAR: Residents of Gulberg have complained that the policemen instead of preventing car-lifting burst tyres of vehicles that were parked outside homes due to lack of space.
A large number of people park their vehicles outside their home during the day time when they come home. Some also park their vehicles outside in streets during the night since there is no space for cars in their homes.
“Instead of going after the gangs involved in car-lifting and snatching, the cops bust tyres of cars and bikes when people park it outside for even a short time,” complained a man living in Gulberg. The cops in many areas burst tyres with sharp metal and take bikes to police stations when the owners park it outside their homes.
“It is the responsibility of the police to provide protection to us as they are being paid for it,” said an affectee in Khyber Super Market. He urged the police authorities to frequently reshuffle the cops in the police station to avoid such happenings.
