In recent times, some far-right political groups have relentlessly attacked the social fabric of Pakistan. Tolerance and empathy are fading, while extremism continues to gain ground. Targeted killings of religious minorities, forced conversions and growing bigotry have become disturbingly common.
This increasing frequency suggests a failure of the state to assert its authority and maintain law and order. It is imperative that the government urgently introduces robust minority rights policies and effectively implements existing ones before it is too late.
