Suspect involved in Rangers man’s killing arrested

Rangers and police, in a joint operation, arrested a suspect allegedly involved in the killing of a Rangers personnel during a robbery in Sohrab Goth on Friday.

The arrested suspect, identified as Essa alias Bismillah, was wanted for his involvement in multiple robbery incidents alongside his accomplice, Saeed alias Toor Khan, in Sohrab Goth, Jamali Goth, Super Highway, and surrounding areas. A weapon and ammunition used in the crime were recovered from his possession.

According to officials, on March 30, 2025, Rangers official Zahid-ud-Din, who was on leave, was martyred while resisting armed motorcyclists during a robbery in Fatah Muhammad Gabol Goth, Sohrab Goth. The suspects fled the scene following the incident.

The case was registered the next day, March 31, at the Sohrab Goth police station on the complaint of the martyred officer’s brother. A joint investigation team, led by the SSP Investigation and comprising both Rangers and police personnel, was immediately formed to trace the culprits.

Acting on intelligence, the team raided a location in Sohrab Goth, where the suspects opened fire. In retaliatory fire, Bismillah was arrested in an injured condition, while his accomplice, Khan, managed to escape under the cover of darkness. Raids were underway to apprehend the absconding suspect.

During interrogation, Bismillah confessed to killing Din during the robbery attempt along with his fleeing accomplice. He had been handed over to police along with the recovered weapon and ammunition for further legal proceedings.
