‘Institute of Sports Sciences to be modernised’
LAHORE:Punjab Sports Department will take all possible measures to make Institute of Sports Sciences Punjab (ISSP) more operational and effective in accordance with the requirements of modern era. Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Director General Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry said this while presiding over an important meeting at National Hockey Stadium.
Director Admin Dr M Kaleem, Director Sports Rana Nadeem Anjum, Deputy Director Chand Parveen, Chief Sports Consultant M Hafeez Bhatti and other officials attended the meeting. Addressing the meeting, Khizar Afzaal said that Sports Board Punjab will conduct modern sports courses at the Punjab Institute of Sports Sciences to increase the capabilities of coaches. “The registration and cancellation method of sports associations and clubs will be improved further. The necessary changes will also be made in the procedure of granting funds and elections of sports associations and clubs”.
He said the essential changes will be made in the constitution of Sports Board Punjab to streamline the sports and other administrative affairs of the sports associations and sports clubs. “There should be a Sports Board Punjab representative in the election process of sports associations to monitor all the proceedings”.
He said that the eligibility and standing of all sports associations will be assessed minutely and regularly to devise a fact-based mechanism for funding and other facilities. “A committee headed by Director Sports will be constituted for completing registration and scrutiny process of all sports associations”.
DG Sports Punjab sought performance report of past one year from all coaches of the province. He also directed all the coaches to submit their performance report every month. “All divisional and district sports officers of the province will monitor sports activities in grounds on daily basis”.
