PESHAWAR: The Additional District and Sessions Judge, Mirza Muhammad Kashif, on Monday sentenced a man to life imprisonment after he was found guilty of desecrating the Holy Quran.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant Public Prosecutor Shehzad Ahmad.According to the prosecution, the accused, Iqbal alias Guru, son of Nasrullah and a resident of Safaid Dheri, was charged with entering a mosque located in Mohalla Darakhel within the jurisdiction of the Paharipura Police Station and desecrating the Holy Quran.
The incident took place on March 9, 2022, after which the police arrested the accused and registered a case against him under Section 295-B of the Pakistan Penal Code. Upon completion of the investigation, the challan was submitted to the court, and the trial began. After hearing all witnesses and examining the evidence, the court found the accused guilty.
