Encroachments, sheds razed in LDA operation

LAHORE:To eliminate encroachments from its schemes, LDA continued its special campaign in more than 15 blocks of Sabzazar Scheme here on Monday.

LDA teams conducted operations in Q, K and P blocks under the supervision of Additional DG UP Mudassar Ahmed Shah. LDA teams also conducted operations against encroachments in seven blocks of Allama Iqbal Town. LDA teams conducted operations in Rachna, Ravi, Huma, Badar, Nargis, Maskam blocks and others. Additional DG Headquarters Dr Mujtaba Arafat supervised the operation in Allama Iqbal Town.

LDA teams demolished encroachments and sheds from several houses during the operation. Encroachments were being cleared from LDA schemes in phases on the instructions of LDA DG Tahir Farooq.

Tahir Farooq said that citizens should not construct outside the building line and remove encroachments on their own. Director Enforcement Faraz Ahmed, Director Housing 4 Zafar Iqbal, Director Housing 4 Muhammad Tayyab, Deputy Director Enforcement and officers concerned participated in the operation.

Furthermore, on the instructions of the DG, the LDA Town Planning Wing was active against illegal commercial buildings and commercial fee defaulters. LDA teams have sealed 173 properties by conducting operations in various schemes and LDA controlled areas. The teams conducted operations in Gulberg, Faisal Town, Quaid-e-Azam Town, Wahdat Road, Sabzazar, Shadbagh, Shadman, Gulshan-e-Ravi. LDA teams have sealed 39 properties in Gulberg, Faisal Town, 56 properties in Quaid-e-Azam Town for illegal commercial use and non-payment of commercial fees.

The teams have sealed 51 properties in Shadbagh, Shadman, Gulshan-e-Ravi for illegal commercial use. During the recovery operation, 27 properties were sealed in Wahdat Road, Sabzazar. The properties sealed include private schools, clinics, bakeries, cafes, restaurants, workshops, food points, shops, offices and others. The operation was supervised by Chief Town Planner Asad-uz-Zaman and Chief Town Planner Azhar Ali.
