As a student of Karachi University, I want to address the worsening condition of the point bus service in our university. These buses were once a lifeline for students to reach campus safely and affordably but have now become a source of stress and danger. The buses are overcrowded, poorly maintained, and no longer meet the needs of the university’s large student population. Every day, students are forced to travel in extremely uncomfortable and unsafe conditions. Conductors often push students into overcrowded. Even when the bus is full, they continue to make students stand at the doors, which is highly dangerous. Many students coming from distant areas are unable to find any space at all.
The main reasons behind this situation are a lack of funding, poor maintenance and administrative negligence. Students have protested multiple times but, unfortunately, no action has been taken. I appeal to the university administration and the Sindh government to urgently look into this worsening situation. The number of buses should be increased and the existing ones must be properly repaired. At least two buses should be allocated for each major area to ensure that students have safe and reliable transport.
