The Anti-Violent Crime Cell, a specialised unit of the Karachi police that deals with the kidnapping for ransom cases, claimed on Saturday to have recovered an abducted person.
According to a spokesperson for the AVCC, an individual named Hassan was abducted on Saturday by unidentified armed kidnappers in the Rim Jhim Tower area within the jurisdiction of the Sacchal police station.
The abductors demanded a ransom of Rs500,000 for his release.
A case was registered at the Sacchal Police Station under the FIR No585/25 invoking the sections 365A and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). The investigation was subsequently transferred to the AVCC.
Under the supervision of the AVCC SSP, a police team under the operations DSP and AVCC SHO was formed in collaboration with the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) to trace and safely recover the abducted man.
The spokesperson said that utilising technical resources and intelligence, the team conducted a successful operation in District South safely recovering Hassan.
Following the recovery, Hassan and the complainant, Kamran, expressed their gratitude to the AVCC and CPLC for their swift action. However, no arrest was made in the raid. Further investigations are under way.
