Pakistan Eagles secure victories over Indian Tigers, Iran’s Lions

LAHORE: Pakistan Eagles will take on Indian Tigers in the final of the Sir Sabz Baba Guru Nanak International Kabaddi Cup 2025 here at Wapda Sports Complex on Friday. The final will roll into action at around 5.00 pm on April 18.

On the second day of the three-day activity, the Pakistan Eagles delivered a dominant performance to defeat the Indian Tigers in a much-anticipated opening match and later overpowered Iran’s Lions of Tabraiz to the amusement of all the participants, the officials and the fans alike.

Both the matches were dominated by Pakistan with the final score of the one-sided contests stood at 37-26 against Indian SPGC Tigers and dictating 46-30 against Lions of Tabraiz, with Pakistan maintaining a consistent 10-point and above lead in both the matches.

Pakistan that got 10 points lead against India maintained it throughout the game while against the Lions of Tabraiz, Pakistan started off with a 10 points lead and swelled it to 13 mid way through the second half and extended it to 16 by the close of play.

The clash between the traditional rivals drew an enthusiastic crowd to the venue, where spectators were treated to an electrifying display of skill, strength, and strategy. At halftime, the Pakistan Eagles had already established a commanding lead of 26-16, setting the tone for the remainder of the game against India.

Pakistan’s defence remained resolute, while their offensive players consistently broke through the Indian Tigers' line, widening the score gap. Despite moments of brilliance from the Indian Tigers, the Eagles’ superior teamwork and tactical execution secured their decisive victory.

The lively crowd applauded both teams for their spirited performances, with chants and cheers ringing out across the arena. Fans appreciated the efforts of players from both sides, highlighting the sportsmanship and camaraderie on display. The impressive skills showcased by the players were met with admiration, creating an electric atmosphere that underscored the significance of the event.

The second match of the day was played between Pakistan Tigers and Lions of Tabriz, Iran. Pakistan Tigers at half time put on display complete control on the game with commanding 25-15 lead and by the close of the clash won by 46-30 points.

SPGC Tigers that won its opening day match against Lions of Tabraiz will now face Pakistan Tigers in the final on Friday at the same venue. The Sir Sabz Baba Guru Nanak International Kabaddi Cup, a tri-nation tournament featuring Pakistan, India, and Iran, is being held at the WAPDA Sports Complex in Lahore. Organized by the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation and supported by Fatima Fertilizer, the three-day event aims to foster cultural exchange and regional unity through sports.

The victory strengthens the Pakistan Eagles' position in the tournament as they aim to secure a spot in the final, scheduled for April 18, where the top two teams will compete for the coveted title.
