Dr Azra Pechuho honoured with AKU Lifetime Achievement Award
Sindh Health and Population Welfare Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho was honoured with the Aga Khan University’s (AKU) Lifetime Achievement Award on Wednesday in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the health sector.
With over 25 years of dedicated service, Dr Azra currently serves as the Sindh minister for health and population welfare and is a member of the Sindh Assembly. It was stated that her leadership has been pivotal in bringing systemic improvements to health care in the province, particularly in areas such as infectious disease control, expanding immunisation coverage, and improving access to health and education for women, children and underserved communities.
The award was presented by AKU President Sulaiman Shahabuddin during the National Symposium on Primary Health Care held at the university. The lifetime achievement award celebrates individuals who have made a lasting impact on research, teaching, healthcare delivery or global health. The honour also recognised Dr Azra’s enduring legacy of leadership, commitment and service to the people of Pakistan.
