Azeri envoy, PA speaker discuss cementing bilateral ties

LAHORE:Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan said that there is a deep-rooted religious, cultural, and historical connection between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, which reflected the strong bond between the two nations.

He said this while talking to Ambassador of Azerbaijan Khazar Farhadov, who along with a delegation, called on him at the assembly chamber on Wednesday. Ambassador’s wife Tarana Farhadov and son Nijat, President of Azerbaijan Trade House Adeel Shuja Butt, and PRO of Azerbaijan House Hafiz M Usman Shafiq were included in the delegation. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on matters of mutual interest and the promotion of bilateral cooperation.

On this occasion, Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan stated that Pakistan holds its brotherly relations with Azerbaijan in the highest regard. Friendly ties already exist between the two countries, and the exchange of high-level delegations will further consolidate these relations. He appreciated the role of the Ambassador of Azerbaijan in further strengthening the relations between the two countries. Malik Ahmad Khan further said that Pakistan and Azerbaijan can benefit from each other’s experiences in various sectors. He emphasised that strengthening public and commercial contacts could further deepen bilateral relations. He highlighted that there are vast opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, education, energy, health, and others. Ambassador Khazar Farhadov acknowledged Pakistan's efforts for peace and stability in the region. He expressed Azerbaijan’s desire to further expand relations with Pakistan and noted that trade and cooperation between the two nations are consistently progressing. MPA Sami Ullah Khan, Ahmad Syed Khan, Ghazali Saleem Butt, Secretary General Amer Habib, and Staff Officer Imad Hussain Bhalli were also present on this occasion.
