MANSEHRA: The body of a young man who went missing from the federal capital last month was recovered from a gorge in the Pulrah area here on Tuesday.
“We have retrieved the body of the young man from a gorge and handed it over to the federal capital police, who took it to Islamabad for further legal formalities,” Mohammad Hamza, the SHO of Pulrah Police Station, told reporters.
The recovery was made during a joint operation launched by Mansehra and Islamabad police following a confession by one of the arrested accused, Wasif Shah, during an investigation with the federal territory police. The body was recovered from a remote village in Pulrah and transported to Islamabad via an ambulance.
“The accused had kidnapped Hamza from the jurisdiction of Aabpara Police Station in Islamabad on March 15, killed him here in Pulrah, and buried the body in a gorge,” Hamza said.
Police sources said that former Deputy Superintendent of Police Syed Arif Hussain Shah and his son Wasif Shah and two other suspects were arrested by Islamabad police in connection with the murder of Hamza Khan.
According to police, Wasif Shah confessed to the crime during interrogation and disclosed that the body of the slain Hamza Khan was buried in a village near Pulrah.Hamza Khan, who hailed from the Nathiagalli area of Abbottabad and was currently settled in Sector G-10 of Islamabad, was allegedly killed over a monetary dispute involving around Rs8 million, according to preliminary investigations.
