LAHORE:Punjab Police have deported some 9,809 illegally residing individuals from Punjab, including Lahore so far under a drive against unauthorised foreigners.
According to Punjab Police spokesperson, more than 10,357 illegally residing people have been shifted to holding centres and 5 holding centres have been established in Lahore and 46 across the province.
The spokesman said the Punjab Police are implementing the deportation policy in accordance with international laws keeping in view human rights sanctity into consideration during the expulsion process.
The IGP has directed the CCPO Lahore, RPOs, and DPOs to expedite the process of expulsion of illegally residing foreigners from the province with the help of Special Branch, CTD, security agencies, and intelligence-based information.
8,440 Pos detained in three months
In a major crackdown on proclaimed offenders, habitual criminals and court absconders, Lahore Police have arrested more than 8,440 proclaimed offenders (POs), 6,670 court absconders and over 2,900 habitual criminals this year.
According to Lahore police spokesman, 1,849 POs were arrested from the Cantt Division, 742 from Civil Lines, 1,751 from City Division, 1,728 from Iqbal Town, 1,154 from Sadr and 1,219 from Model Town division.
The police arrested 1,260 court absconders from the Cantt Division, 792 from Civil Lines, 1,412 from City Division, 1,898 from Iqbal Town, 641 from Sadr and 667 from Model Town division, he maintained. Meanwhile, CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana emphasised the drive against criminals and ordered efforts to apprehend the POs.
Punjab Police celebrate Culture Day
Punjab Police have celebrated Punjab Culture Day 2025 with traditional fervour. Officers and personnel of Punjab Police performed their official duties wearing traditional Punjabi turbans, a symbol of province’s cultural identity.
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar in his special message, said the Punjab Police takes great pride in the province’s distinctive traditions and culture. He said love, peace, brotherhood, unity, and tolerance are prominent colours of Punjab’s culture.
On the occasion, Punjab Police renews its commitment to preserving the province’s traditions, heritage, and cultural values. He said the protection of Punjab’s cultural and historical sites, as well as its folk heritage, is a priority.
45 search operations conducted
Punjab Police conducted 45 search and sweep operations during the last 24 hours and questioned 1,533 individuals and detained three suspects. According to Punjab police spokesman, 357 combing operations were carried out, involving the screening of 9,546 suspicious individuals, leading to the detention of 36 suspects. During these operations, a total of 147 proclaimed offenders involved in heinous crimes, 65 court absconders, and 27 habitual criminals were apprehended.
