PA panel approves Acid Control Bill to ensure women’s safety

LAHORE:The Punjab Assembly standing committee on home department has formally approved the Punjab Acid Control Bill 2025 (Bill No 15 of 2025) following detailed deliberations.

Chairperson of the Punjab Women Protection Authority and MPA Hina Parvez Butt attended the committee meeting held at the new building of PA here. The session was convened to finalise key legislative matters, including the Acid Control Bill, originally tabled by Hina Parvez Butt. The bill had been amended in the previous meeting and was approved on Monday after thorough review.

Hina Parvez Butt thanked the committee members for their constructive support and termed the legislation a crucial step towards preventing the illegal sale and misuse of acid. She emphasised that the bill aimed to protect women and vulnerable communities from acid-related violence.

The meeting also reviewed the Provincial Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill 2025 (Bill No. 25 of 2025). Butt reaffirmed her commitment to continuing effective legislative efforts for the protection and empowerment of women in Punjab.
