Teenager killed, eight injured in firing incidents across city
A teenager was killed and two others injured in a firing incident over a land dispute near the Allah Wala area in Surjani Town on Sunday, while six others, including a woman, were injured in separate firing incidents across the city.
According to details, a clash broke out near the Gulshan-e-Kaneez Fatima Society, during which gunfire erupted, leaving three individuals critically injured. They were being taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) when one of them, 17-year-old Faisal Hussain, succumbed to his injuries on the way. The injured were identified as 21-year-old Asif Hassan and 45-year-old Arifullah.
Surjani SHO Ghulam Hussain Pirzada said that the initial investigations suggest the incident stemmed from a land dispute between the Brohi and Bugti tribes. He said members of the Bugti group allegedly initiated the altercation and physically assaulted the opponents before opening fire, which resulted in one fatality and two injuries. Police have collected evidence from the scene, and launched a search for the suspects.
In another incident, two individuals, 25-year-old Saeed Shah and 17-year-old Abdul Qudoos, were injured in Sango Lane, Chakiwara, Lyari, reportedly due to accidental firing while cleaning a pistol. They were taken to Dr Ruth KM Pfau Civil Hospital.
According to police, the victims initially gave misleading statements, but eyewitnesses claimed they did not see anyone fleeing the area. At Liaquat Ali Khan Chowk, Azizabad, a man identified as Aminullah was injured by a stray bullet and taken to ASH. Doctors confirmed his condition is stable.
A similar incident occurred in Sector 11-F, New Karachi, where 58-year-old Riaz was wounded by a stray bullet. He was also taken to ASH, and is reported to be in stable condition. In Paposh Nagar, 55-year-old Shah Jehan Bibi, wife of Haleem, was injured near the Paposh Nagar graveyard by a stray bullet, and is receiving treatment at ASH. Moreover, 30-year-old Fayaz Afzal was injured by a stray bullet near Rice Godown Morr, Gul Ahmed Chowrangi, Quaidabad. He was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
