PESHAWAR: Action has been taken against 388,586 people for violating traffic rules in the provincial capital in the last three months, officials said.
Chief Traffic Officer Haroon Rashid Khan on Sunday said that there has been a significant reduction in traffic accidents during the first three months of the current year compared to last year, which he said, was due to proper traffic management and implementation of laws.
He said the City Traffic Police Peshawar was using all its capabilities to ensure the implementation of traffic rules. He said that awareness campaigns were underway across the city to ensure the implementation of traffic rules.The CTO said action was taken against 7843 people for not wearing helmets, 1759 for not giving right of way to other vehicles, and 2107 people for violating the no-parking zone.
He said that action was taken against 513 for violation of lane discipline, 517 for misuse of signals, 5530 for violation of one-way.He added action was taken against 6480 for driving without a driving license, 489 for driving without a permit, 3835 for using tinted glasses, 520 for using a mobile phone while traveling, 537 for driving unregistered vehicles, 387 for driving under the age of 18 and 102 for overloading.
