Noor, Nasir qualify for World Games
KARACHI: Pakistan’s Nasir Iqbal and recently-crowned under-23 world champion Noor Zaman have qualified for the World Games that are scheduled in China from August 7-17.
“Yes Nasir and Noor have qualified for this prestigious event in the sport of squash,” said a source associated with Pakistan Squash Federation.
Noor, ranked 67, has played 104 international matches and won 62 while lost 42. He played 16 finals and secured eight titles in his 6-year career.
Nasir, ranked 74, was once number one player of the country before facing 4-year ban over doping. He has played 234 matches and won 173 while lost 61.
He played 38 finals and secured 27 titles in his 17-year career. His best raking was 35 in the world.
It is to be noted that the maximum permitted number (including athletes and technical officials) for the sports programme of TWG 2025 and onwards will be increased from 4,200 to 5,000 for 34 sports, 60 disciplines and 255 medal events.
