ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday summoned the inspectors general of police, Punjab and Islamabad, in personal capacity on April 16 in a case for the recovery of four missing Afghan brothers.

Justice Muhammad Asif heard the petition of Afghan woman Gul Seema for the recovery of her four sons missing from Islamabad since January 2024. The court summoned the IGPs at 11am.

At the outset of hearing, Justice Asif said in a conversation with Islamabad and Rawalpindi police officials that if this happened to “you and me, we could feel the situation”. “How long will the chain continue?” He said, pointing out that the mother of the missing “comes to my court again and again”. “In this case, we are going to form a JIT.”

“Why are the people seen in footage not being included in investigations? Even after 10 months of investigation, no one has been arrested,” the petitioner’s counsel said.

Police officials said the mother of the missing brothers had been called to record her statement. The court adjourned the hearing till April 16.
