Military officers inducted into civil services start training
Officers met additional chief secretary Punjab, in presence of senior departmental secretaries
LAHORE: As part of their training under the 52nd Common Training Programme (CTP), ten officers inducted into the civil services from the Pakistan Armed Forces commenced their three-month Civil Department Attachment on Monday.
The cohort includes five officers in the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), three in the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), and two in the Foreign Service of Pakistan (FSP).
On the first day of the attachment, the officers, accompanied by a faculty member from the Civil Services Academy, visited the Punjab Civil Secretariat. Their visit began with an insightful briefing on the rich heritage preserved by the Punjab Archives and Libraries Department, followed by a guided tour of the historic Tomb of Anarkali—an iconic symbol of Lahore’s cultural legacy.
The officers also met the additional chief secretary Punjab, in the presence of senior departmental secretaries. During the meeting, they were briefed on the progress of key initiatives undertaken by the Punjab government over the past year. An interactive question-and-answer session provided the officers with deeper insight into the development priorities and governance strategies of the provincial administration.
The visit concluded at the Punjab Home Department, where the officers were briefed by the Special Secretary Home about the department’s mandate, operational structure, and its coordination with law enforcement and public safety agencies.
This attachment aims to sensitise the inducted armed forces officers about the workings of civil departments, foster inter-institutional understanding, and equip them with a well-rounded perspective for their future roles in the civil services.
