Two cops suspended for ‘accepting bribe’
MANSEHRA: District Police Officer Shafiullah Khan Gandapur has suspended an assistant sub-inspector and a police constable for allegedly taking a bribe from a motorist within the City Police Station’s jurisdiction.
“I have zero tolerance for corruption. That’s why these two personnel are suspended, and an inquiry committee has been formed,” he told reporters on Saturday.
In the viral video, the two cops intercepted a vehicle, asked the driver to show his license and other documents and then let him go after he greased their palms.
Gandapur said a committee, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Oghi, Nazir Khan had been constituted to investigate the matter and would submit its report within three days.
“If the suspended personnel are found guilty, they will be brought to justice under strict relevant laws,” he added. Meanwhile, the elections for the District Bar Association will be held on April 8.
