Indian MPs’ pay raised to INR124,000 (over PKR 400,000), retrospectively
In contrast, daily allowance has also been raised to INR2,500 from Rs2,000 earlier, notification states
ISLAMABAD: The Indian government has increased the monthly salary of parliamentarians by 24 per cent to 124,000 Indian rupees (nearly 405,941 Pakistani rupees) from 100,000 Indian rupees.
It will be paid with retrospective effect from April 1, 2023, according to a gazette notification issued by the Indian Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs this week.
According to Indian media reports, the salary of Lok Sabha (Lower House) and Rajya Sabha (Upper House) members has been raised to 1.24 lakh Indian rupees per month from Rs1 lakh at present. In contrast, the daily allowance has also been raised to INR2,500 from Rs2,000 earlier, the notification states.
The pension paid to former MPs has also been increased to INR31,000 per month from INR25,000 at present, as per the notification.
The additional pension for every year of service above five years has also been increased to INR2,500 from INR2,000 earlier, the notification concluded.
