Wasa achieves record revenue recovery, warns defaulters of strict action
Rawalpindi:A special meeting was held at the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) Rawalpindi headquarters under the chairmanship of Managing Director (MD) Muhammad Saleem Ashraf to review the agency’s revenue recovery progress. The meeting was attended by key revenue officials, including the Director Revenue and Deputy Director Revenue.
During the meeting, the Director Revenue presented a performance report, highlighting that the recovery target for the first eight months of the current financial year was set at Rs1,581 million. However, by February 28, 2025, Wasa had successfully recovered Rs1,697 million, surpassing the target by Rs116 million.
Furthermore, a record-breaking recovery of over Rs250 million was achieved last month, while more than 210 million PKR has already been recovered this month, despite Ramadan. Officials expressed optimism that the set recovery target would be met in the coming days.
Commending the revenue staff for their outstanding efforts, MD Wasa appreciated the officers who contributed to improving the revenue recovery process. At the same time, he issued a stern warning to underperforming staff, instructing them to enhance their performance immediately.
MD WASA reiterated that Wasa operates solely on its revenue and covers all expenses through its own resources. Therefore, any negligence in revenue recovery would not be tolerated. He issued a strict ultimatum to the concerned officers, directing them to recover 100% of the outstanding dues from all defaulters. He also ordered the immediate disconnection of water connections for non-paying consumers.
In a final warning to defaulters, MD WASA announced that this was their last opportunity to clear outstanding dues. He emphasised that following this grace period, late fees, instalment options, and any flexibility in payments would be revoked. Additionally, strict measures such as property attachment, arrests, and termination of water and sewerage services would be enforced against persistent defaulters.
MD Wasa urged customers to fulfil their financial obligations promptly, emphasising that responsible citizens should pay their dues on time. He affirmed that the crackdown on defaulters would continue without compromise, and no external pressure would be entertained in this regard.
