Kaira condemns Taliban ideology, urges political unity for Balochistan
LALAMUSA: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and former Advisor to the Prime Minister on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Qamar Zaman Kaira, strongly condemned the intellectual roots of Taliban terrorism.
Speaking to the media, Kaira highlighted the evolving threat of extremist ideology, emphasising that Taliban forces, after confronting global superpowers, now aim to destabilise Pakistan by imposing their own version of “Sharia” through violence. “Our armed forces are committed to eradicating such acts and continue to fight them with full force,” Kaira stated.
However, he underscored the complexity of counter-terror operations in civilian-populated areas, explaining that security forces operate with caution to prevent collateral damage. “Eliminating a few hundred militants is not a big challenge, but ensuring the safety of innocent civilians remains a priority,” he remarked.
