PESHAWAR: Deputy Inspector General Prisons Sahibzada Muhammad Qaiser said that drugs, ice, corruption and other criminal activities on the premises of prisons would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
After taking charge of his office, he visited various jails and after listening to the problems of the prisoners, he issued orders on the spot.During his visits, he reviewed the administrative affairs, other facilities and food and cleanliness provided to the prisoners. He made surprise visits to District Prison Charsadda and District Prison Jamrud where the staff members frantically started running here and there when he listened to the problems of the inmates and personally got information about the food and other facilities for the prisoners.
Along with the cleanliness of jails, he issued strict directives against the use of drugs and ice and said that the use of drugs inside the jail would not be tolerated under any circumstances. The official himself went to the jail kitchen and checked the quality of food prepared for the prisoners.
He also issued instructions to the jail administration to take care of the prisoners, ensure cleanliness on a daily basis and provide high-quality food to the prisoners. He said that he would not tolerate any negligence and corrupt practices on the part of the jail officials during their duty. The DIG Prisons Sahibzad Muhammad Qaiser has also started meeting the prisoners on a daily basis during his visits to various jails in the region.
