Door-to-door collection service to be extended: LWMC CEO
LAHORE:Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) CEO Babar Sahib Din Wednesday said door-to-door collection service would be extended to all 274 union councils of Lahore by the end of April.
At present, the LWMC is ensuring the provision of exceptional waste management services by continuing its door-to-door waste collection initiative across over 100 union councils (UCs) of Lahore with the help of more than 1,000 rickshaws. The LWMC awareness teams are spreading information about the initiative in every street and the waste collection initiative is reportedly being appreciated by the public. Complaint desks have also been established at UC level to facilitate residents regarding cleanliness issues. To raise awareness more about cleanliness, the LWMC is announcing key messages in various areas using vehicles and motorcycles and citizens have been urged to support the teams and avoid dumping waste in open plots, near mosques and in schools.
Wasa DG visits new under-construction head office
Director General Wasa Punjab Tayyab Farid along with MD Wasa Ghufran Ahmed visited the under-construction Wasa head office in Johar Town on Wednesday.
On the occasion, Director Project Abu Bakr Imran gave the DG a detailed briefing on the progress of the project and construction works. The DG appreciated the quality of work and asked the authorities concerned to complete the project within the stipulated time. He stressed the need of the use of modern engineering techniques in the construction. The MD stressed the consideration of environmental protection steps in the construction of the head office.
