New minister vows to address environmental issues
Islamabad: Musadik Masood Malik formally took over as the Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination here on Monday.
Previously Minister for Petroleum, he was made the climate change minister by the prime minister as part of a broader cabinet reshuffle and expansion. Upon arrival at the climate ministry, Malik was warmly welcomed by senior officials.
The minister was later given a comprehensive briefing on ongoing projects and initiatives. The briefing covered key areas such as sustainable development, renewable energy adoption, international collaborations aimed at addressing climate change challenges, and the ministry's efforts to integrate climate resilience across vulnerable economic sectors.
The minister reiterated his commitment to addressing Pakistan's environmental challenges, emphasising the need for strategic vision and expertise. He acknowledged the ministry's crucial role in guiding Pakistan towards a climate-resilient future.
