Lanjar orders preparing draft of recommendations for amendments to anti-graft law

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar on Friday jointly held a meeting with provincial anti-corruption minister Muhammad Bakhsh Mehar to discuss proposed amendments to the Sindh Inquiries and Anti-Corruption Act.

Officials said that during the meeting, proposals and recommendations for the necessary amendments to the anti-corruption act were taken into consideration and further necessary instructions were given.

The chairman of anti-corruption briefed the participants on the proposed amendments with various references. After detailed discussions, the minister for law and home affairs directed that a draft containing comprehensive recommendations regarding the amendments should be prepared as soon as possible and sent for approval.

He said the necessary amendments are the need of the hour, which aim to bring any corrupt person to justice and ensure exemplary punishment by making all its affairs and measures effective and strong.

He said that with the proposed amendments to the law, their implementation and enforcement, no corrupt person will be able to escape punishment. Provincial minister Mehar said the digitalization of the institution is his priority and he wants to strengthen this institution with his efforts and serious steps so that not only accountability of any corrupt person but also exemplary punishment can be ensured. The meeting was attended by the law secretary, prosecutor general, advocate general and other senior officers.
